Quinn: "Comrades, it is our solumn duty to rescue the Duke's children, we must hurry before the track grows cold."
And with that, Quinn starts off into the wilderness, heading north, following the tracks. It all seems calm, perhaps too calm. Before too long, he hears a disturbance ahead, a rustling in the brush. Without warning, a ravenous Hunting Drake leaps out from behind a group of trees and rushes the party, jaws agape, dribbling saliva.
(During a Hero's phase they Hero may move up to their Speed and then Attack, or Attack and then move, or move twice. If they reach an unexplored edge their turn ends, and a new tile is generated, Monster(s) are placed, and a potential Encounter is generated. If no new tile is placed there will be an automatic Encounter, otherwise for outdoor tiles, the Encounter roll is a straight 50% chance, for dungeon and cavern tiles, there is a marker on the tile that indicates whether an Encounter is generated or not. Quinn does not generate an encounter this turn. Once the Monster is generated, and the effects of any Encounter are resolved, then each Monster owned by the active Hero activates, in the order they were placed.)
With an uncanning intelligence, the Hunting Drake rushes towards the weakest looking member of the party - Raistlin. Luckily, Wen'keor and Keyleth are in the way, and the beast comes to a halt before reaching him.
(Quinn has no attack, as the Monster is generated after his Hero phase. The Hunting Drake does not attack as its AI tells it to move.)
It's Wen'keor's turn now. He's staring a ravenous Hunting Drake in the face! How will he react? Stay tuned gentle readers for the next installment of my little soap opera.
